To get Maverick, the ability to create small murder holes through reinforced walls will be amazing. I think Maverick is going to have a huge influence on the overall meta and the way the game is played, both horizontally and vertically, and I'm very excited to see how our pros and all of the other players use him in various ways.

Our balancing staff take both qualitative feedback from the community at large, they take comments from our expert players via a personal Discord server, we've got pro player evaluation sessions where we attract professional players to the studio and they play pre-alpha variations of those operators and give their responses. We build those operators with this feedback. We also examine the information, the quantitative side, and we make adjustments based on that as well.

We balance the match for play, and the reason we do this is because the maximum level of play is the meta. The lower skills and ranks are where players are catching up with the high level drama over a span of weeks, so we'll see something occur in Pro League that's a comprehensive shift in the meta, then we will see that trickle down to Diamond rank within days, then Silver and Gold after a week or two, and then even below that following a few weeks.

So by balancing the sport at the highest level, we are in a position to find the trickle down impact of that and how it affects all levels of play. Even if Copper and Bronze players aren't proficient players, they are still able to understand from those players and figure out different ways to use what they're doing to their gameplay.
