Nitrogen Generators for Different Applications

Posted by mvsengg18 in Technology on August 18th, 2018

Do you need nitrogen gas for product transfer, purging, tank blanketing, purging, and flushing or for any other purpose? You must consider your plant’s compressed air supply as a source to deliver your own particular on-sitenitrogen. This is a straightforward and dependable way that can save money and get more control over your nitrogen gas utilization. Organizations who create their own supply of on location nitrogen can produce to such an extent or as small amount of nitrogen as they require, at a fraction of the cost of having the gas delivered through an outside source in cylinders.

In general, there are two ways to generate on-site nitrogen gas. The first way is membrane filtration and the second way is PSA (Pressure Swing Adsorption) technology. Flow rates and purity will determine which technology best suits your application.

Membrane technology on-site nitrogen generators are used typically in applications where the purity requirement is less than 99.5%. This technology works by filtering oxygen from the dry compressed air stream via hundreds of thousands of hollow, polymeric fibers each the diameter of a human hair to produce gaseous nitrogen. The purity of the nitrogen (impurity is the balance oxygen content) can be adjusted by regulating the volume of air passed through the membrane. Membrane modules can be added as necessary, so it's easy to expand as requirements change.

Some applications that are best suitedfor on-site nitrogen for membrane filtration are: food packaging, tire filling, tank blanketing, RIM (Reaction Injection Molding), rapid prototyping, power stations, fruit storage, injection molding (Gas Assist),mine fire prevention, dry box storage of electronic parts, fire sprinkler systems and beer dispensing.

PSA nitrogen generators are used in places where the application requires the purity of higher than 99.5%.  PSA technology utilizes two towers that are filled with carbon molecular sieve (CMS). Compressed air enters the bottom of the first tower and flows up through the CMS. Oxygen and other trace gases are preferentially adsorbed by the CMS, allowing nitrogen to pass through. After a pre-set time the first tower automatically switches to the regenerative mode, venting contaminants from the CMS. In the meantime, the second tower goes into generation mode, ensuring that nitrogen supply is never interrupted. Carbon molecular sieve differs from ordinary activated carbons as it has a much narrower range of pore openings. This allows small molecules such as oxygen to penetrate the pores and separate from nitrogen molecules which are too large to enter the CMS. The larger molecules by-pass the CMS and emerge as nitrogen gas.

Whatever your requirements are, MVS Engineering Pvt. Ltd. can fulfill all your air and gas solution needs. Their Nitrogen Generators work on German Designed and Engineered Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA) technology and American Designed and Engineered Membrane technique to produce an uninterrupted stream of Nitrogen gas from compressed air.   This company has established itself as a distinguished leading supplier of on-site nitrogen generators and all other air and gas solutions. They also customize gas generators according to the unique demands of the customer.  MVS guarantees quality nitrogen generation products backed by excellent service as well as the best warranties in the industry.
