Amazon RDS Overview

Amazon RDS which is known as Amazon Relational Database Service was implemented to act as a relational database in the cloud. It makes it easy to set up for users, operate and scale it to what you need it to be. It is very affordable and cost-efficient when any add-ons have been created. Clients can also resize the capacity to, however, you may long. The Amazon RDS was created to make sure it can be compatible with most activities. As well as, it supplying users with fast performance, high availability and security. Since users are not using databases as often, they can be optimized for memory. This may seem like a hassle but it allows great memory compatibility in the future.

AWS RDS Instance Types

The AWS RDS instance types were implemented to help users choose what is best for them. What is best for their databases and their use cases? This could be a combination of features they are looking for, from CPU, storage, member, networking. Therefore is it why clients need to understand their databases very well before implementing a decision similar to this one. This is why each instance includes its size, allowable scale and requirements needed to the workload that is done. Here are a few of these instance types along with an overview of their information.

1. Standard-Latest Generation

  1. Db.m4.large; has a CPU of 2, memory of 8, however, the network performance is very moderate.
  2. Db.m4.16xlarge; has a CPU of 64, memory of 256 along with the performance becoming 20 Gbps. Some people say this is not a big deal, therefore, it is best not to have it, but it is a big deal for me because you made it.

2. Standard- Previous Generation

  1. Db.m3.large; has a CPU of 2, memory of 30, and has high performance.

3. Memory Optimized- Current Generation

  1. Db.r2.large; has a CPU of 2, memory of 15.25 and its performance is up to 10 Gpbs.
