The server room is a valuable area of business. Server rooms hold expensive equipment vital for the function of a company. The devices will begin to fail as internal fans become taxed and fail. The server room monitor can guard that temperatures stay within an optimal range of 68 degrees to 71 degrees Fahrenheit. The system should be equipped with a server room temperature alarm that enables a warning to be sounded when temperatures are out of the desired range. Smaller server rooms can be monitored with wired server room temperature sensors for best functionality. A large server room with multiple devices can be monitored wirelessly. Sprinkler systems and fire extinguishers can be more harm than good in a server room. Instead, include fire extinguishers that suffocate the fire to remove heat.

Server rooms should service both current needs and anticipate future company growth. When building a server room, it is important to contain an area with enough space for future business needs. Industry architects recommend considering 20 percent growth rate over a five-year period. It is important to not overload a system which can lead to over-heating which will result in system failure.

The sensitive of systems makes it desirable to have a back up system. All relevant software should be routinely backed up in case of error. The server room controls vital functions of a business. Clients and funds can be quickly lost when these functions are out of commission. Frequent backups will enable companies to get back and running quickly and efficiency following a system failure.
